She was Minister of Sports in the third government of François Fillon from 14 November 2010 and 26 September 2011, succeeding to Roselyne Bachelot and being replaced by David Douillet, before taking office as senator on 1 October 2011. She had previously been Minister for Ecology in the second French Government of François Fillon from 21 January 2009 (she replaced Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet) to 14 November 2010.
