Pelchat, set foot on stage for the very first time in 1973 and, since then, devoted his life to singing. Through the years, Mario Pelchat has earned notable recognition such as Male Singer of The Year, Album and Show of The Year, as well as many Golden and Platinum Records. In 2011, Mario Pelchat will be celebrating 30 years of success, both on stage and disc.



Mario Pelchat recorded his first 45 (7 inch) on September 1981. The following year, he launched his first album, which placed him amongst the leading signers of this generation. Many successful albums followed: “Je suis un chanteur” (I Am a Singer) – in 1982, and “Tu m’as fait mal” (You hurt me) – in 1983. Nonetheless, a few years were needed to find a true personal musical direction.

In 1988, Mario surrounded himself with a strong team to set his upcoming success. His self-titled album earned him a Gold Record and, within less than a week, another followed for his 1990 release “Couleur Passion” (The Color of Passion). That same year, ADISQ (Quebec’s equivalent of the Grammys) awarded him its Male Singer of The Year award. In 1992, Mario joined Sony Music Canada and recorded a defining album, “Pelchat”. Featuring his famous duet with top Canadian star Céline Dion, the album earned a Double Platinum recognition as well as Album of The Year award at ADISQ. Not long after, “C’est la vie”, released in 1995, was certified Gold. His worldwide tours, from Canada to the Middle East, were to be praised and recognized.
